Baxter and stubbs was founded in 1904 by George Baxter and Albert Stubbs, who were orginally journalists with the Star newspaper in Ballarat. In 1925 George Baxter sold his interests in the business to Albert Stubbs. Robert Inglis, who commenced his apprenticeship in 1941 bought the business in 1957 and it is now run by his son John and daughter-in-law Gaye.
